In honor of Persay’s spring launch today (shop it here!) I chatted with Ellen Quade, the artist behind Great Florals. Enjoy!

Can you give everyone a little intro?
My name is Ellen Quade. I’m a former New York fashion girl turned potter and the owner of Great Florals. I live in Austin, Texas in a little tudor cottage with a fabulous garden that provides so much inspiration to me!
What helps you stay inspired? Or rather where do you source inspiration?
Besides gardening - books, traveling, & collecting antique pieces.
What was the first piece you made? Your favorite?
I actually have one of the first pieces I made in high school sitting on my desk as a pencil holder! The lamp is a current piece. As you can see, I’ve come a long way!
What are you most excited for this spring?
Flowers, of course!! Being able to clip my own from my garden is the best.
How do you approach gifting?
I love to gift terracotta pots filled with seasonal bulbs, a gorgeous candle with some fun matches, or nice olive oil with a fresh baguette. I like the combination of something that can be used and enjoyed immediately and something they can save and use again and again.
Favorite gift you’ve ever received?
A set of mismatched antique silverware from my mom!
